Please take poll on ETM problems and future new Volvo purchases S70

I have created a poll on the likelihood of future new Volvo purchases if Volvo fails to address the ETM problem. Please vote at the following link:

Thanks. Apologies for cross posting.

....but... S70

Volvo DID fix it with the '02 models. No matter what people do or say now, Volvo won't do anything about their older cars.

Oh, but you're so wrong. Yes, true that the '02 model and more recent has better ETM's, but you are going to see Volvo replacing the older ETM's free of charge, I'd say, many times without asking questions. A recent article in the LosAngeles Times says that Volvo knew about the defective ETM even as early as '99 as still produced cars with them in it. Volvo is nervous now and willing to make some concessions. You'll read more about this in the upcoming weeks.

Why do you say that I'm wrong when so far, I'm right? Where are you getting your info from besides a newspaper article? Until I see this happening (written info from VCNA), I'm not going to believe it.
If Volvo does cover presently out of warranty ETMs, there'd then be a national campaign or recall and to date, nothing like that exists for ETMs.

Sure, Volvo knew those units were bad before '01 as that's why they redesigned them for '02s.
What about 850, X70 AC evaporators, S80 trannies, etc, etc? Volvo never replaced those for free either once out of warranty.
Volvo has had and STILL does have MANY other major car part issues too (like many other manufacturers) yet usually once the warranty's up, the owner's typically SOL.
You should see some of the major issues we've seen with a few '05s. Volvos aren't getting better :(

It appears that there are two angles on why Volvo may begin replacing (and apparently some dealers are already relenting) the ETM for cars up to 100K miles:
Safety reasons and environmental (emissions) reasons. Check this out:

I'll still only believe it when I see Volvo actually doing something about it officially by a campaign or recall.

I know that there are many upset customers out there, so does Volvo BUT will they do anything for everyone? Realize too that that'd cost Volvo ALOT of money, money that they don't want to give up easily. Knowing how things work with Volvo, I won't hold my breath.

If you were around here yrs ago when everyone was buzzing about the 850 Evaps, getting nowhere with Volvo either, you'ld know that this is a similar situation.

For the most part, most ETMs make it out of factory warranty and that's all that ALL manufacturers ever really care about. After that, they'd rather if you buy another new car rather than keep their old one. Sure, you could say that "Mr customer is now too PO'd to ever buy another Volvo unless you fix his old one first for free" BUT the nice Volvo salesman will tell you that the new Volvo is now much better, improved, yada, yada ;)

Shane,

Can you post the article here. I really don't want to register for yet another site.

I probably can, but it would be more striking if a large number of people responded to one poll. I have in mind if enough people respond that I would send the link to VCNA so they can see how otherwise loyal Volvo enthusiasts feel about Volvo if they won't fess up and fix the ETM problem.
