my previous post dealt with the codes. I have discovered that along with the two blocks underhood, which i can read codes from, i have an ODBII connector under my 'coin holder', forward of the shifter.

is this normal ? can i reset the ECU from underhood ? i've had difficulity !

is the ODBII connector also 'active ?

Look for the blink box under the hood in the right front corner by the box that contains all of your ecu's.

Go over to www.sweedspeed.com and then to the repair section (Bay13) and you'll find in there how to read the codes with your black box and how to clear them as well as what many of the codes mean. OBDII wasn't standard until '96 but from '95 on, some Volvos had them. Your's doesn't, but you can read all your codes without one as the little black box next to your wiper washer resevoir allows you to do so. Have fun and good luck!

Thank you both for the very helpful information. Rule 308: you have answered so many of my 850 questions and some of my 240, you must be like the volvo guru. Again thanks alot.
