question about ABS light 850

After having the car diagnosed, I was told the car('96 850 GLT) needed a new ABS control unit. I purchased it(rebuilt), and had my mechanic put it in. Immediately upon starting the automobile, the light went off-but came back on after I had driven about twenty yards. The light has remained on since Thursday morning, and about 100 miles. Is there something that I needed to do before the ABS control unit was installed, or is there possibly something else wrong? Do I need a OBDII computer to turn off the light? A Volvo computer? Any help would be greatly appreciated :) Thanks and have a splendid weekend!

Where did you purchase the rebuilt unit?
Did you get the same number as the one that was removed?
Do you still have the old unit?

Sounds like the unit is probably ok. Make sure it is well-seated and use a zip tie, if you need to, to ensure that it stays well-seated. Good luck!
