Cleaning the wifes volvo. V70-XC70

Just after cleaning up the V70- at the weekend and used this stuff i used on my BMW and Mazda. Its Meligulars Quick Clay. This stuff is amazing! You use it between the wash and wax stage and brings the old bus up like new. If you want to get your paintwork like new i could recommend this stuff! Just wondered if you guys on this forum had heard of it.

The Meguir's clay ROCKS!! You use it with the Meguire's QUICK DETAIL to keep it lubed, right? If you have a good auto detail store around, they will sell the clay ala cart, the first time I bought it was from IPD, it was a bottle of Quick Detail and a clay "brick." Just remember to wax the car after the clay becuase the paint is wide open to condamidants after the clay treatment. It's amazing to see all the crud that comes out of the paint! Nothing like a freshly detailed car, AHHHHHHHH!

I'd rather use a chemical product to remove sap and that sort of thing. Volvo stated to me that the clear-coat on their paing is about 1/4 the thickness of a sheet of writing paper. Abrasives no matter how mild are removing clear-coat at an alarming rate. Same with machine buffing which is ten times worse.

"THE" wife? Sounds bad, shouldn't you say "my" wife? I think she would be very upset if she saw your post replys in your email list.

Nothing like it for bugs, filth, even some acid rain/soot discoloration. I try to clay bar all the cars twice a year. Currently all three are overdue for the spring treatment...

Can the clay bar remove clear coat "over-spray?"

Yes I used it on mine, didn't see much really... but maybe for very old paint!

Is this similar to Mother's Finest clay block? If so, I've heard a lot of good comments about it at www.odyclub.com

Nearly all the car wax manufacturers sell a clay bar. For those who haven't used it, you know when you run your hand across the freshly washed paint, sometimes, it still feels kinda gritty? Next time, wash the car, and then use the clay, then wax. It will be noticably smoother/glossier.

It feels like rubbing Silly Putty across the finish (don't need to buy the lube they sell along with it, spraying water as a lubricant as you go is fine). The clay pulls the grit out.
