issue with sc-816 in V70 cross country.

I purchased a 1998 Crosscountry v70 and the SC-816 radio isn't working. I was told when i bought it I would have to leave the key in the I position for 2 hrs and the radio would ask for the code, but so far the only display I have seen is a blank screen (when it is turned on) and OFF (when it is Off). I disconected it and reconected it, and now the disc-in/Anti-theft light does flash (which I do not remember it doing before, so I thought I was making progress). Any suggestions? Has anyone seen this before? Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

Mark

I've had my radio out for repairing the lights in it and it is extremely easy to remove (in fact, it is the easiest to remove radio I have ever seen). I mention this because I would try removing the electrical source for about ten minutes. You can then slide the radio towards you and unplug the harness from it. Leave it unplugged for a few minutes, then plug the harness back in. If you want any more detailed instructions on radio removal, just email me.

On second thought, you could just remove the radio fuse for a few minutes, then reinsert the fuse and turn the key to the I position. The radio should then request your code...use the numbered keypad to enter the code. If there is no request for the code then I suspect that the radio is in need of repair...

Sounds like it might be broken.
http://www.volvospeed.com/Repair/sc816.php is for a different fix, but at least it will tell you how to take it out. At least this way you can check the connectors to make sure that isn't the problem.
