98 V70 A/C charging V70-XC70 1998

Is anyone here familiar with high and low side pressures I should look for on a 98 V70 with r134a refrigerant? The average daytime temp around here is about 80F this time of year. Also, I found the low side port, but where the heck is the high side port located? Mine was not cooling well and the compressor was cycling, so I put just enough charge in to keep the compressor on. I don't want to continue adding refrigerant until I can measure the disharge pressure. This is the first time refrigerant has been added to the system, so I suspect the low charge was normal due to age.

      If there is no high side port, how do you accurately top off the charge? Do i have to pull it down and weigh it in? I measured the temps for the evaporator inlet and outlet, but still don't feel good about charging this way.

        Volvo was thinking about safety by eliminating the high pressure port, so that average folks like us DON'T INJURE ourselves.

        Recharging is done thru the low pressure port. The ideal way to recharge is to evacuate the system and recharge with 1.6 lb of freon.

        The second best way is to get yourself an ac pressure gauge to check pressures.

          I have A/C pressure gauges and am familiar with their use, but I've never heard of not having a high pressure port to monitor. There are a lot of things that could cause unusually high discharge pressures that could give insight to system problems.
