Position light message V70-XC70 2003

My message center has a message "BULB FAILURE-POSITION INDICATOR"
From other posts this apparently indicates tail light failure but the tail lights seem to be fine. Any ideas.......thanks

Check the lights over the rear license plate. This has happened to me several times and it has always been the license plate light. In fact, it happened again last night.

"Position light" = parking light

The rear bulb currents are monitored and will trigger a failure message if any of the 4 tail light bulbs either fails or draws too small a current due to corroded connections.
Note that there are two bulbs on each side; one is a double filament bulb that also serves as the rear fog light. Compare left and right sides in the dark to see if one of the 4 bulbs is out.

I don't have the foggiest... Does that mean the position indicator bulb failed? Check all of the lights. If you changed one, use the spare bulb in the package of two to change the opposite one. Call the dealer and ask one of the service techies what this message means.
