Very rough idle from dead cold start, fine when warms up 850 1994

I really need some advice considering I am planning on taking this wagon on a 500 mile trip next week. Both yesterday morning and today when I start the car from cold it idles very, very roughly and today, instead of just shutting it off i decided to just drive and see if it runs better after warming up. Well, bad idea because I practically had to stand on the brake pedal to stop the car the first time. I pulled back into the garage, shut it off and whalla!, when I started it back up it seemed to be fine. I don't know what to think. Are these two issues related? Any advice on troubleshooting would be very much appreciated. I am SOL if I can't take this baby on vacation.

I went to check the throttle body and possibly clean it and I discovered a vacuum line tucked under the IAC that was broken (basically disentegrating). I replaced it and everything is back to its normal, reliable self. I am going to now replace all of the vacuum lines. Thanks guys.

Clean the throttle body and IAC motor before your trip.
