Cleaning PCV System on turbo V70-XC70 1999

Can anyone give me a link to information on how to clean the PCV system for this car. I know it does not have a flame trap. I have seen references to a oil seperator and return piping to the crankcase(?). I am planning on changing the engine oil this weekend, and would prefer to clean this first, if I am going to be dislodging junk into the crankcase.

Also, while I am at it, aren't there some vacuum line elbows I should be checking?

I also plan to clean the throttle body, etc.

Thanks for your help!

    Ken,
    Do a search on PCT.

      Klaus,

Thanks for the post. I did a search for PCT and got a list of 25 posts. One you posted on February 10th described a method of removing the PCT and the cold air pipe. This was the only post with any description of how to clean the system, although there was another post referencing pouring some type of cleaner down a pipe to the crankcase.

Is this project just a matter of removing the PCT as described and cleaning all the hoses, etc? Do you run brushes through the hoses? Can you blow them out with air? What is the best way to clean the down pipe?

I have got to get a copy of VADIS so that I have something to research these things and have a better understanding of just what I am trying to do!

I will get to look under the hood this weekend, maybe it will all make sense.

      Thanks,

      Ken

They are vacuum lines and should be cleaned with what ever you feel like. Gasoline, kerosene, simple green and water, what ever. If you can blow through a line, it is clean enough.
The nipples on the down pipe are fragile, be careful you don't break one.

        Have fun,
        Klaus
