RE: a 1993 850, I have probably 95% of the center console out. It's now pivoting forward (while lifting from the back of the console) and seems to be stuck on the sides just under the sides of the ashtray. How does it come out completely? I've tried pushing down and pulling at the same time too.

Remove the ashtray, and there should be a torx screw or two in that area, sorry I can't recall exactly. Also need to remove the cigarette lighter attachment. That should do it.

Thanks for the advice. I removed the ashtray, behind it there are two torx screws. I removed those but all that did was allow me to remove the ashtray holder. The whole console tilts up from the back nicely. It seems to be hung up at the front, it seems to be pivoting on something.

How do you remove the cigarette lighter? Can I pull it out or do I have to get underneath and push it out?

you don't need to remove lighter - the bulb go in from under. While there you might want to replace ash tray bulb (above ash tray), rear center console bulb (lights pass. floor & armrest) and shift bulb (lights PRND12 panel)

Thanks. I do need to remove the cigarette lighter receptacle to replace it completely. The existing one is all rusty inside. How do I get the entire center console out and in my hands? After that, how do I get the cigarette lighter receptacle out of the console??

There are 2 more screws to take out. Under the OBDII panel that looks like a coin holder and one next to the cigarette lighter. I assume you found the two under the ashtray.

I got the two at the ashtray, two more (visible)by the hand brake lever, two more inside the armrest storage area (under a small false bottom), and that's all I can see. Where would the two by the lighter be? Hidden or visible?

The 850 has 2 more screws, one hidden under the OBDII cover, one next to the cigarette lighter. They screw in towards the rear of the car.
