Tailgate washer-wiper switch problem? 850 1994

The washer motor (good, I tested it) will not trigger when pushing in the end of the stalk or wwitch. It does trigger the motor to go through its wiping motion, but no sound from the motor. Is this a common breakdown problem on these little jewels? Am sure a new switch for the wipers is $$$'s.

there is also a relay its #204 its on the bottom side of the fuse block inside the car under the dash. i think it provides power seperately to the washer motor and the wiper motor.

Thanks, will check it out also. Did locate a used switch stalk, so may have a spare if it is the relay. The wiper does work, so who knows.
