Check Engine LIght Code Help V70-XC70 1998

Problem 3 has developed. Check engine light came on. Went to AutoZone to pull the code and it came out as P0107 MAP sensor. Called Jenkins Volvo in Milwaukee and said that this was a generic code and would need to run a diagnostic: $82. Any ideas what this code might mean and what part(s) need to be fixed/replaced. Thanks!!

(M)anifold (A)bsolute (P)ressure sensor. While looking in the engine bay, it is located left front, just behind and below the headlight. You should see a plug that is going in at about a 45 degree angle. Try unplugging and plugging back in and see if the code comes back. Also, if you don't have a code reader, I would recomment the Equus 3100, which can be had for $100 or so at most major autoparts places, or online.

The MAP sensor is a $150 part, or more depending on where you get it.

I'm drifting off subject here, but why the Equus 3100? Do you believe it to be better Actron 9135 for example, which sells for about the same price. I'm getting ready to buy one and was leaning towards the Actron 9135, for no particular reason other than that that's what Autozone seems to use around here. Thanks.

Thanks! I will give this a try and take it back to Auto Zone. Should I reset the codes by disconnecting the battery?

But could be as simple as the gas cap gasket being loose...check it and see if it is worn out or deteriorating.

        HI,

I am receiving a similar message P0108. I just checked the gas cap and saw a small piece of twig between the gas cap and the filler tube.

I removed the piece and reset the light and I am hopeful that this will correct the problem.

Where is the cheapest place to get a MAP sensor for a Volvo?

I would consider a used or scrap dealer if possible.

        Regards,

        Darryl

Try www.fcpgroton.com If not listed on their web site, call them. They are very reasonable and shipping is ultra fast.

            Hi,

I called Groton yesterday and they are asking $200.00 US for the MAP sensor which is way higher than it can be had in Toronto from my dealer.

I think I found my problem there was a little twig between the gas cap and the filler tube which I have removed and hopefully it will be back to normal.

            Regards,

            Darryl
