vacuum nightmare 850 1996

almost done rebuilding the engine. time to plug i the vacuum hoses but the way it was plugged in before doesnt match the diagram on the hood. some how 4 of the outlets on the intake's 5 hose tee were open and according to the diagram 3 of the outlets are closed and 2 are open. should i follow the diagram? because the car was running a little rough before the rebuild.

Open connections on the "tee"? I hope you mean "blanked off", not "open". There should certainly be no open ports into the vacuum system. Unless you are very certain that the hoses were correct before you started rebuilding, if I were you, I'd start by following the under-hood vacuum hose diagram. And be sure that any "extra" nipples are blanked off, not left open. Just a short piece of hose with a plug will do.

Good luck

they were literally open and not capped off. the diagram is basically wrong it was the same diagram as the one on my aunts 1995 and her car doesnt have a secondary air intake system. the other thing i couldnt figure out was that the diagram shows that theres a vacuum line that goes to the air filter box but there was no vacuum line coming out of the air filter box in the 1996. the 1995 doesnt have it either. thanks in advance. right now ill capp off the open ones and connect it like the 1995 and see what happens.
