Seatbelt buckle (receptable) disappeared! 850 1996

I have a '96 855.

My father borrowed the car for a week while I was out of town, and since the car was rather dirty inside, he had it detailed at a local carwash. I'm grateful, but now I have a problem - I'm missing a rear seatbelt buckle (receptacle for the clip).

I tried to look inside between the seat bottom and backrest (rear seat), but no sign. Tried to feel around with fingers in the hole, but couldn't find that way either. I'm guessing it got broken off somehow during detailing (boggles my mind how). The carwash doesn't know anything about it. I know the rear seat was raised for detailing, 'cause I had it lowered it when giving it to my father. The seats were definitely cleaned, so it must've been raised for cleaning.

It doesn't matter who's responsible anyhow. I just want the thing put back in so I can separate my kids in the back. Has anyone try to replace the seatbelt clip receptable? I'm referring to the receptable where the metal clip clicks into. Is this a hard job? Looks like the rear seatback needs to come off altogether?

Thanks in advance.

Great!

I tried to lift the bottom cushion, but I guess I didn't try hard enough.

Thanks a lot to both of you. My wife and I appreciate very much just before a long drive with kids.

Pick up the bottom portion of the seat... they probably lifted the cushion part as part of the detailing process (at least they SHOULD have) and it simply fell down. The "receptacle" part is quite short, and is reinforced where it bolts to the flooring. It won't go anywhere, even in the event of an accident.
Before I pay for a detailing job, I always lift the rear seat. If it hasn't been meticulously cleaned, I tell them that if they want to be paid, they have to do the job first. Nothing worse than finding fossilized french fries under the seat after paying a bundle for professional work.

Happy hunting

Hi; Have you lifted (hinged) up the seat botton? The "clip" you are looking for is most likely underneath and just needs to be swung up into place. Good luck, Brad
