A friend who knows Volvos told me the reason my temp readout on the dash was 122 degrees was because of the sensor location -- too close to the exhaust...he said "just move the sensor wire away!" -- I neglected to ask him where I might find it -- thanx in advance for your help! mark

It's no where near the exhaust. It's under the radiator, on the passenger side.

I believe the sensor is located behind the front bumper towards the right side (passenger), it is often knocked from its bracket and it hangs just under the bumper.
