Smoke from exhaust 850 1997

There was smoke coming from my exhaust pipe today after a relatively short trip and the engine seemed hotter than usual. The car has been maintained at regular schedule and seems to be running fine. Any help?? Thanks.

What color smoke are you seeing? Generally, black smoke is unburned fuel, blue is oil and white is coolant/water vapor. If you're seeing white smoke and your engine is running "hot" (via the gauge) you may have a head gasket problem. You need to track down the problem as driving the car with the engine hot will ruin it.
