I could replace many coolant hoses - not just the lower one. 850 1995

Car is almost 11 years old and I'm original owner. I just drained out the coolant (1 gallon from radiator petcock) and will be heading to volvo to buy some hoses. I want to replace the lower radiator hose first - because it's so long and custom. Actually the upper hose get's much hotter so is more likely to fail (i'd guess). Then there are the smaller diameter heater hoses - a U shaped one near the lower hose attachment to the engine. Off to the pass side there are a few more coolant hoses related to the resevoir.

SO I'll buy lower, upper plus the smaller u shaped hose. The hoses on the pass side - maybe I'll do 2 years from now. Anyone acutally have a hose fail? WHich one?
