Here's a puzzle for the experienced.
My 1994 850 Turbo is increasingly hard to start (especially after it gets up to operating temperature. The upshift arrow flashes sometimes but not always. I have noticed that the Idle Control Valve is humming only when the car is able to start (no hum, no start)-(but I don't think it's the problem, just a clue).
I am getting code '223' on OBD socket A1(indicating "Throttle Position Sensor signal too low"). I exchanged the TPS for another one and there was no change.
I'm not getting any OBD codes on A2 (although I have had 433 - "Knock sensor" without replacing the Knock sensor).
I replaced the PNP switch on the transmission after I was told that it could be is the cause of the flashing arrow (although I didn't have a corresponding diagnostic code). It didn't correct the problem either.
I'm now at a dead end. What else can cause the upshift arrow to be flashing?
It is increasingly hard to start.
Absolutely every suggestion is welcome and may provide clues to others.
Many thanks,
Ed
