Can't eject CD cartridge - In Dash 3cd V70-XC70

I have a friend with a '98 V70R...when she bought it (used) there was no CD cartridge in the radio. Bought one, popped it in (nothing unusual), and it won't come back out. Feels like you could tug hard enough to pull the whole radio out. Is there a release somewhere if I stick a flat shim in under the cartridge or something? Any ideas about what causes this? Common? Thanks!
