My wife's 854 GLT's third tail (safety) light is acting up. I pulled the assembly and replaced the bulb. All contacts are good, except, the two contacts on the assembly that contact the base that is bolted to the body,
The contacts embedded in the bottom of the removable assembly are very worn and porous. I have bent them so that they make contact with the body mounted contacts, but I have to leave space between the assembly and the windshield.
Does Volvo sell replacement contacts for the bottom of the removable plastic third tail light assembly....or do I need to buy a new (base) piece of the third tail light assembly?
Thanks!
Also....while troubleshooting this..it was all started by a "bulb out " indicator on the dash...I fried the stop light fuse. Of note...when the stop light fuse is burned out (i.e. stop lights are not functioning)....the bad bulb indicator does not indicate a bad bulb. One can be driving with no tailights and not be aware of it. Seems like Volvo should have made the bad buld indicator indicate when the fuse burns out, too.
