1997 850GLT Turbo Noise 850 1997

All,

I just got back from a business trip, I live in RI, and my wife tells me the wagon has a slipping belt.

Long story short, the noise is coming from the turbo. It sounds like a slipping belt/grinding noise. It is medium in pitch and somewhat high in frequency at idle. I did not rev or drive the car, so can not comment further.

Car has 185K, with good maintances history.

Can anyone offer help with diognosing a turbo problem.
