Many people have given helpful posts on keeping the rebreathing system (hoses, oil trap, flame trap if present, etc.) clean.
If you have dealt with crankcase overpressure and went as far as removing your intake manifold to check the oil trap and lines, what did you find?
I am thinking to do this and would like to know what to expect. The car has 135K miles and is non-turbo. Performance, fuel usage and emissions are normal (no diagnostic codes either), but it uses at least 1 quart of oil per 1K miles and there is definite overpressure. There are no external leaks at all - bone dry everywhere I can see. The oil seems to get dirty quickly. Whenever I have cleaned the flame trap (about once a year) there is a fair amount of oil that has accumulated in the intake and throttle body area.
