I was just getting ready to go to Tulsa to take grandson #1 (the one with the
Master's degree) to the airport and a light came on on my dash that said
"Dip Beam Bulb out". I got out and looked, and sure enough the passenger side
low beam light was out. The only way I could kill the light was to put on the
parking lights, which I did. When I got back I went to my favorite parts house
and they sent me to Auto Zone, where I found the H7 55watt bulb. Brought it home and figured out how to get to it with some help from the user's manual.
The plastic block that holds the wires and terminals was charred and brittle.
I got the wires off but the plastic thing came apart in my hand. One of the wire terminals looked like it had been pretty hot. Got my small duckbill plars
and bent the springy part of the terminal and changed the bulb. The filament
was gone in the old one. I hooked up the new one with the wires and terminals
and turned on the lights, which seemed to be OK. We got in the car and before
I could back out of the driveway the light lit up again saying "Dip Beam Bulb out". When we got where we were going I looked in the glass in front of me and
the bulb I had changed was working OK but the Driver's side was out! So I went
back to Auto Zone and spent $16 for their LAST H7 Bulb. When I took the one out the Driver's side the wire clip that holds it in was unsnapped. I tried
snapping it but it still didn't work. The filament doesn't look broken but it
is a bit sparkly. The new bulb on that side solved the problem.

Is it common for both to go out on the same day? Is arcing common in the
terminals on these models? This is different from what I have been used to!
Should I get a new plastic holder for the wires on the passenger side?
I'll be taking it in for its 60K service before too long.
