wiper lift 850 1993

my wifes 93 850 has been a great car, just hit 205k. Right now, my wifes biggest complaint is that the wipers are lifting sooner over the years
lifting meaning that on the drivers side, the wipers lift off the windshield in mid stroke. so on the drivers side, to see out safely, you need to lean to the center of the car
nothing seems to be loose or worn, but something must be.
I dont want her to drive it until we fix it, in the rain anyway
but its her favorite car of all the volvos we have owned ( at least 11)
ideas ?
