Steering Wheel won't firmly lock in place 850 1997

Hello old friends,

My locking lever on the steering wheel, the one that allows me to adjust the wheel up/down, nearer/farther, does not firmly lock the wheel in place. I have never messed with anything on the steering column, but am ready to try. Does anyone have suggestions of what might be the problem, and a remedy?
