Does the AMM on an 850 provide limp-home mode if disconnected? 850 1994

I'm trying to rule out the AMM as a cause for my no-start condition on my newly acquired 850

I'm assuming that, like my 240, the car may not start if it is bad and disconnecting it will cause it to start - confirming the AMM is the culprit?

Is this also true for the 850?
