Six months ago Mid-City responded to my internet
search for a used motor. They offered a good price,
and a six-month warranty. I PayPal'd them the funds.
4 weeks later I received the motor: damaged. The
engine had been dropped; a hole punched in the pan
and a number of smaller parts sheared off. Thus
started a drama that is not yet over.
Shaun, their (dis)service manager, refused to replace
the engine. He claimed they had no replacements. A
call to their sales department got a new quote on the
same motor with an immediate ship date. I had to have
the motor repaired locally - on my tab - which Shaun
assured me would be reimbursed. He has repeatedly
lied about having sent a check, having my records
burned in a car fire (creative, at least!) and sending the
check to the shop that did the repair.
The short of it is: check up on a supplier you are
considering doing business with. If I had looked at:
http://www.ripoffreport.com/reports/ripoff173635.htm
or
http://www.badbusinessbureau.com/reports/ripoff176729.htm
or their abysmal rating with the Better Business Bureau,
who suspended their membership:

I would never have sent them a nickel. So, don't do business here: www.midcityautosalvage.com
Sincerely, Larry F.
