S70 Brakes S70 2000

About 90 days ago I replaced front rotors and pads on my wife's 2000 S70. The car was stopping okay; the rotors were just badly worn. I had heard a lot of good things about ceramic pads, so that's what I used. After following the "running-in" recommendations that came with the new pads and rotors, the brakes worked great. Almost as good as my old 240's.

A couple weeks ago I was driving the car and noticed that occasionlly, when I started to stop, I would get the distinct impression that the left front brake assembly was not contributing to the stopping effort. I would get a good hard pedal, with normal pedal travel, but I had to let off and re-apply pedal pressure to obtain normal braking response. If you drive the car for 30 minutes in city traffic, you can now expect it to happen once or twice.

Had I not installed pads with this new-fangled composition, I would just go chase an old-fashioned hydraulic problem.

Any ideas, comments or observations would be appreciated.

Thanks.
