odometer motors - 850s all the same? 850 1994

after replacing the odo drive gear and double checking for alignment, engagement, etc, my odo STILL doesnt work!! perhaps it is the little drive motor..?? thought i might find one available but not sure if they are the same for all 850s (mine is a 1994 turbo). any ideas anyone? if it could be the culprit, anyone out there have a spare from a junker or whatever so i could test this out? havent really had any luck checking for available new ones anyway! as always, thanks in advance!!
