Group:
I recently purchased an antenna mast from a popular auction site, but found that it did not fit. All Volvos with the exception of the early S40, which was not really a Volvo, use the same mast. 240-850-960 are all the same.
The problem was that that the largest section of the new mast was about .009 inch too large in diameter. The OEM mast is .327 while the new one is .336 diameter.
The seller would only refund the purchase price, not the shipping which was 60% of the mast price.
My fix was to take the small ferrule or sleeve and carefully saw it lengthwise so it could expand enough to allow the mast to fit through.
Since all the aftermarket masts are made by the same company, probably offshore, it should not matter who you get it from, and it will probably be too big. To avoid having to modify the sleeve, I suggest you specify the smaller diameter mast only.
