V70 will not crank V70-XC70 1999

Car will not even crank. I can get around the problem by putting the key to on and then putting 12v on the starter relay. Car immediately starts. From then on it re-starts fine with no jumpering. A few day later it's back to its old tricks.
Any suggestions on what it could be? Would the antenna ring be doing this? If you have a bad antenna ring, would the car crank? Mine does not even crank when it gets into this state. Thanks
