SRS Airbag Service Msg S80

The SRS Airbag Service Msg. came on when I started the car this morning. I took the battery terminals off with the car's ignition off, trying to reset the light. I still get the message. Should I take the terminals off the battery while the car is running? Will this reset the message, if it is just a stray electron somwhere? Any ideas on how I can fix this problem, without going to the stealer, would be a great help!
