Can't Open Hood! 850

I recently had a new Clearbra put on my 850, but in the process, they broke the little plastic handle that comes out through the grill when you release the main catch. I have the new part, but can't get the hood open--I've used a coathanger thru the grill to pull on the safety catch, but can't seem to move it forward enough. It's been over a month since I've been under the hood and I need to change the oil!

Oh yes, I've talked to the dealer, no help--"you'll have to make an appointment for next week and leave the car for the day.."

If anyone has had this problem and solved it, please help..
