Hi there.
I have a 2000 S70 GLT with about 68,000 miles. I keep my car extremely clean inside and out (passengers have remarked that my car looks new), it has no leaks and no chemicals/solvents have been used/stored inside the car. When I bought the car in 2000, I had film window tinting applied to the windows by a professional at a TX Volvo dealership.
About 2 years ago, I had 2 rear bubbling door panels replaced at a NY Volvo dealership. The repair went smoothly and looks great. Over the past 6 months, I have noticed a strong plastic/chemical-like odor that fills the interior (and leaches into the trunk) of the car after letting the car sit for as little as 10-15 minutes (whether or not the car has been warm/running or aired-out cold for an hour).
Could this odor be a result of the adhesive used for the door-panel replacement or from the aging window tinting? Has anyone else experienced a smiliar odor from their vehicle with door panel replacements or film window tinting?
Thanks for weighing in.
Steve
