electric seat adjuster broken: frozen in an uncomfortable position

I'm going through one of those little things go wrong phases. Right now the tilt on the seat adjuster is broken. I hear the motor turning and some grinding but the seat remains in a very "relaxed" position, tilited way back. I either need a pillow or a smoking jacket to keep it that way. Anybody else experience a failure like this?
