I'm a volvo newbie, just purchased my first, a 96 turbo wagon in generally nice condition. I knew about the dreaded tailgate rattle, and this one has it in spades so I took off the entire plastic shell and the rattle was still there. I used a ratchet strap from the door to the cargo tie down and it temporarily solves the problem but is a pain in the butt when i try to access the cargo area. Is there something I can adjust to make the door close more tightly or am I SOL? Would rubber bushings of some sort do the trick?
Also, I need to replace all of the door speakers. Does anyone hae any advice on how to shoehorn a better sounding speaker into the tiny spaces? I'd love to use a 6x9 or a larger round speaker but I am reluctant to cut holes in the car. I have the premium sound CD with no amplifier. I would consider light modifications if others have had good luck with a particular installation. Also would replace with a better volvo branded speaker if anyone knows of a more recent version that would fit.
