A/C Not working for first time, compressor not kicking in. Relay? 850 1994

Believe it or not, my 1994 850 has never had the A/C problems that plagued early 850's in the past, until now. When turning on the A/C the compressor does not kick in. I'm guessing relay? Just so I'm clear, this is not a low coolant issue or failed evaporator. The A/C was working fine all summer right up to the end of September at my last count. I turn it on, on occasion during the winter months to exercise it which probably explains why I have gone 12yrs without a problem. Anyone? TIA
