New Tires, Struts, Shocks S70 2000

Our Volvo S70 GLT SE with 98k miles needs new tires and at least strut mounts.

Due to the vast difference in cost I do not plan to have the work done at the dealer.

Tires. The car currently has 225 65 16 Goodyear ComfortTreads (49k). These tires have provided a good ride but have changed the handling somewhat. Is there a newer tire available that provides the benefits of a comfortable ride along with better handling?

Struts & Shocks. The strut mounts must be replaced. Tests indicate the struts are still good but with 98k would it be best to go ahead and change the struts along with the mounts? AND to ensure the best ride and handling would it then be best to also change the rear shocks? Is it best use the same brand shocks as the struts? So far, the only other non-Volvo brand strut I can find that fits our car is by Monroe. Is there a another brand I should consider?

We plan to keep our Volvo S70 GLT SE for a long, long time.

Thanks, Louisp
