The previous owner of my car replaced the changer just before I bought the car, about 30K miles and two years ago. He pointed out how he paid extra to get the OEM changer. It worked fine until a month ago, when it the head unit started reading "0 00" (I think disk 0, track 0). If I press a different disk number, the unit will act as though it is seeking, but again "0 00". If I eject and reinsert the cartridge, the unit dutifully goes through attempting to sense each CD, but all I see is a metal tab with a plastic end going up one CD at a time. It doesn't ride come in contact with the CD's, and there is no attempt to pull any of the trays out. I can't see how the unit senses a CD, and unless it is optical, there may be another function required for sensing that isn't working. If you can shed any light on this (if it happened to you and you figured it out), I would greatly appreciate input. I am a little ticked at the thought the changer has failed so quickly, but I suppose it is possible. TIA
