overdrive S70

I own a '99 Volvo S70 front wheel drive. I'm experiencing a problem with the overdrive. When I start out it's there, when it warms up (30 miles) it's not there. My mechanic feels it's not the tranny, but no being a certified Volvo mechanic, it might take him trial and error replacing parts theat "might"
cause the problem.

does anyone have a suggestion where to look?
