Serpentine belt failure S80

Serpentine belt changed at 60k. Two weeks later, it goes, and takes the timing belt with it. Expected penalties for that! Blame the mechanic? There was talk about the breather tube jamming into the serp. after running up on a curb. Hmm? Any ideas?
