After owning 3 240s from the 80s, I bought myself a "modern car", a '97 BMW M3. The BMW has been nearly trouble-free, but is a poor match for the roads/traffic, etc. in the Chicago suburbs where I live. It has enormous performance potential which is completely wasted in my part of the country. Come spring, it's going up for sale and I'll try to pick up a nice 850 Turbo wagon.
All of my Volvos had rust (even my newish BMW has it under the trunklid gasket). I vowed to never own a car with a spec of rust again.
Is rust a problem with 850s where they salt the roads? Or should I try to find a California or Southern car?
