I have owned my S70 since new - it has the 5 speed auto transmission.
The unit has a shift flare (sudden spike in RPM during shift, the jerk as shift occurs) on light acceleration when transmission is hot (from highway for eg) right about 30 km/h.
Updated software turned the shift flare into a shift delay/bog. This morning I had the old rrrrum/whap style of shift coming of the highway.
Lifting the positive post on the battery for 10 min will make the issue disappear for a month or so. Will not occur under harder acceleration. Does not occur with cold transmission.
This car is coming off VIP 7 year/160km warranty on the end of April. I have a service history with this issue, and they have checked everything and found nothing (including driving while monitoring trans pressures). They updated software to keep me happy. Trans fluid is clear with no debris and at proper level.
Please give me some technical advice on the problem. I will try to get the service manager to go for a ride to show him the symptoms. What I really want to do is say "Servo G3 in valve body is sticking - replace valve body under tech sheet ABC-1" or "Reset trans software and put through drive teach cycle"
Does anyone have info to help? I think the service group are trying, but just not successful.
