Gas cap cover wouldn't release last year so I took out the latching assembly, looked it over, played with it, didn't see anything wrong and put it back. No more problems. A year later same problem. Won't release. Have cycled my lock/unlock switch beaucoup times, but still no luck. So I drive around with the corner cover off (wagon) so I can hook my finger in the wire ring and pull it every time I need to fill the tank.

Is this a part failure of the solenoid that releases the little locking slide or is it somewhere else in the overall locking system of the car, e.g. poor electrical contact, etc.? Would really like to know before I remove that solenoid again. Dick
