Have 850 and 240 as daily drivers; want to buy used pickup truck. Recommendations?

Maybe a strange question for this forum, but given the wisdom here, I'm bound to get some shrewd advice. My wife and I are looking for a used truck, not to be daily driver, but to have on hand and for hauling recreational gear, camping trips down to Baja Mexico from California, and trips to the Sierra Nevada for skiing (I hate scuffing up my 850, and the 240 is a senior citizen who has already had her share of 12,000 foot passes in the winter in Colorado--talk about learning how to drive on ice--try that in a 240 sedan on Monarch Pass when it's 20 below in a blizzaerd at midnight, but I digress).

We live in redwood country with plenty of mountains but no significant snow. We want to pay around 5-6K or maybe less. Given that some of the folks here live in rural or semi-rural areas, (e.g., Wisconsin, Kentucky, etc.), there's bound to be some opinions. Suggestions? Best value?
