Hi All,
I have a 1995 850 Turbo that I am trying to get rid of because we bought a new car and I don't want an extra insurance payment. Right now, it consumes about 1/2 quart of oil per 1000 miles with city driving but on long highway trips, it will consume up to 1 quart per 500 miles. I'm not sure what this means in terms of the longevity of the engine. I am more familiar with VW's than volvos and in VW's, this level of consumption can occur on new cars so it is "normal." But is this the beginning of the end for a Volvo? I want to know because it will help me decide whether I sell it to a private party or just sell it to a dealer at a reduced price. I'd hate to unload this thing on a private party if this level of oil consumption means that there are serious issues with the engine.
Thanks.
