I have a 1998 S70 T5 manual. Can anyone tell me whether there is a switch that should prevent the car from being started if the clutch is not engaged?

My car was inadvertently started while it was in gear and the clutch was not engaged. I do not know if I have a bad swtich or if there is not this type of safety device on this model and year S70
