I own a '98 V70 R AWD with standard 16" Comet Bright Silver rims.
I wish to put 17" Volvo rims(either Satelites or Aquilas - both 7"x17") on it.
I've been told conflicting, good and bad news about replacing the 16s.
(a) it may damage the hiscus cup over time
(b) the tires will rub on the inside cowling on turns, affect the turning
circle and/or the rim may even rub on steering compnents
At the same time, I've been told that I won't have any problems.
Dealerships tend to go one way or the other. The car has approximately 214 kms
and runs great. I'm rim confused! Any advice/knowledge would be greatly appreciated ASAP.
Any thoughts on a suitable tire brand and size for the 17s? I'm not a racer but enjoy grip and appearance. They'll be stored in winter. I've enjoyed Michelins on previous Volvos I've owned.
Thanks,
Doddsy
