My daughter attended TireRack's "street survival" program today. Sponsored by BMW club, it was really great. This is just a confidence builder designed for younger drivers, on a closed course.
Lots of slalom sections with cones, a traffic light for change of direction reaction, and a water pad for turning and straight line stopping. Students were encouraged to drive at their own limit, and you should have seen all of the smiling faces!!!
Problem:
During my daughter's 4th or 5th straight line stop in the wet, the front wheels locked up. The ABS light and tracks light came on. For the rest of the session, no ABS or tracks, which made things even more fun!
When I got home, I found 2 codes:
1-4-2 Faulty brake lamp switch
4-4-2 Pump pressure low
The brake lights work great, even though they got a work out today. I didn't try cruise control.
The pump pressure is low? There is plenty of brake fluid, does this mean that I will need a new ABS pump? Bummer.
The car and I are going to rest. I will re-check in the AM. I was on my feet all day chasing cones in the hot sun.
Thanks,
Klaus
