Hello S40 guru's, a new person to the BrickBoard has accidentally posted this in the wrong forum, so I'm reposting it here for you all to look at.

I have a problem with my 2000 S40. At first every once in a while after it had been running and then was shut off when i'd go to start it instead of turning over all i would get was a click and a whirring sound. I would check the battery and everything was fine. If i let it sit for about 4-6 hours it would start right away. The problem has progressively gotten worse and now it won't start even after sitting all night. The dealership said it sounds like the immobilizer and will cost around $750 to fix. I don't have that kind of money. My dad works on cars and he wonders if there's a way we could set up a pushbutton start to the starter and completely bypass the immobilizer? What do you think?
